I've been thinking about it for a while since I've been ramping up on transporting these last few months. My free Pandora account has been great, but my poor phone can't handle the multitasking-navigation, music, texting, Facebook Messenger. Plus, I've got a limited data plan.
Sirius can always be counted on to throw a $5/month "deal" at you to get you back/keep you. So, I grabbed the latest "junk mail" envelope from Sirius and headed for my laptop. Now, my Subaru Forester is not equipped to be satellite ready so I had purchased an Onyx EZ car radio in 2015 when I got the Forester. Setting it back up was a pain. Re-snaking the wire antenna behind all the molding and trim in the front seat, down the passenger side, into the cargo area, then out the rear headliner to be fished between the space where the tailgate door hinges was a p-r-o-j-e-c-t! I invested an hour of my life, a gallon of sweat, and a couple of fingernails into that task! Alternately, reactivating the radio was a piece of cake! I was back in business in less than 5 minutes.
I should take a picture of my dashboard one of these days. The Forester is not equipped with navigation either so I've dusted off my 'ole Tom Tom circa 2009. It's outdated, so I've had a few tense moments scrambling with my phone's GPS to figure out my route. In all, it works 90%-95% of the time, and that's good enough for now. But man! Is my command station a mess! Onyx radio, Tom Tom, cell phone all positioned just so in order for each to be seen and accessed during my trips! 😆
My next vehicle will most assuredly be satellite radio and navigation capable!
