Captain Kate Doyle, Owner/Operator/Director of Anchors Aweigh Animal Transport, is *actually* a captain! In a former life, part of her duties involved driving boats around the waterways of southeast Georgia. Over the years, she accrued enough sea time to apply for her Captain's license from the United States Coast Guard! She still loves every moment she is able to "man the helm" and set out for open water, but these days her focus is on animal rescue. Her salty background perhaps provides a bit of insight as to why all the nautical nuance is scattered throughout these pages...

Kate has always been an animal lover and currently shares her home with 7 fabulous felines and her patient, animal-loving guy! Though all animals "great and small" are her passion, cats certainly hold a special place in her heart. Kate volunteers with Islands Feral Cat Project, Red Clay Animal Rescue, One Love Animal Rescue, and the Georgia Wildlife Network. She also cares for a small colony of feral, or community, cats in her neighborhood. Kate has a soft spot for these street kitties, and indeed, Anchors Aweigh Animal Transport was first conceived as a service strictly to get free-roaming cats spayed or neutered, and return them to their home range, or new forever homes.
Since its inception in mid 2018, Kate has grown Anchors Aweigh Animal Transport to be so much more, and there are always more great ideas on the horizon!
