We've made contact!

On the way home from today's transport, I stopped to deliver kitten food and some supplies to a woman who reached out for help with 3, ~month old kittens who's mom was hit by a car. Same area where my little escape artist now lives. Of course I went to visit him too.

As I pulled around in front of the antique store, there was a car idling there with a man inside. I was immediately excited. I had thought about leaving a note for the care-giver(s), but now I could introduce myself!

He is a lovely person. He and his spouse visit and feed the colony every day. Relief! I was so worried when I read that article in December. I showed him the photos I took and the side-by-side I created, and he agrees that certainly could be the same cat I lost. The good news is he believes that the cat has been fixed, as there "are only a few" left that aren't (all boys-thank goodness). Relief! I mentioned not seeing an ear tip, but I didn't really get close enough to say for sure. They had help with that project from the Humane Animal Resource Team, an awesome local animal welfare group. I also got to ease my guilty conscience by telling him that I did not intentionally dump LBT there! Relief! I gave him the highlights...er..."low" lights from that fateful day, and he sympathized that it was quite a harrowing day!

He was interested to hear that you can relocate feral and stray cats (what I was doing that day), and I explained the process to do so successfully. He expressed some worry over the property management complaining about the colony here. I made sure to emphasize that if the situation ever changed and it looked like the cats would be evicted, to let me know! I am more than happy to come down and help trap and relocate. I left my contact information and he gave me his card. Now, hopefully, I can stay in the loop regarding this colony! Relief!

Before departing, I asked him if it would be alright for me to visit and maybe leave a little snack whenever I pass by. He said yes. Relief! I started off for home base feeling uplifted and...relieved.
